The Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW (the Fellowship) is a mental health charity and has been delivering innovative consumer and carer activities for over 25 years.
The Fellowship is seeking a Community Support Worker to assist in the delivery of innovative services that are responsive to the needs of individuals in the Hunter Region. The role requires you to coordinate a team of volunteers and provide administrative assistance to the Hunter Community Development Program, the Hunter Community Reintegration (Forensic) Program and the Sunflower Centre, and support and develop Support Groups in the region. You will also provide direct service delivery for the development and enhancement of volunteer and client skills which includes but is not limited to self care, transport, engagement in community life, educational, vocational and recreation activity and provide peer support.

The D2DL program provides group activities and social, recreational and educational opportunities for individuals recovering from severe and persistent mental illness

Quality/Policy Officer

The Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW (the Fellowship) is a non profit organisation in operation since 1985 and is a well respected mental health service provider in NSW. The Fellowship holds 3 year quality accreditation with QIC. We wish to appoint a Quality/Policy Officer to plan and coordinate Fellowship initiatives in the areas of continuous quality improvement and policy development and systemic advocacy.
This position will work with the senior management team and the Quality Committee to assist the Fellowship to further develop its continuous quality improvement processes. The position will also work with executive management and the Board to support the Fellowship in its systemic advocacy role by providing research, preparing submissions and responses to government policy direction.
To be considered for this exciting and challenging role, you will need to have at least 2 years experience in Quality Improvement work including external quality reviews and at least the equivalent experience in researching and developing strategic organisational approaches to systemic advocacy together with excellent communication and policy writing skills.

Carer Assist

The Fellowship has been funded to standardise and expand our Young Carer Program by a philanthropic trust. ON FIRE has been operating for 10 years. The program mentors young carers of a person with a mental illness aged 8 to 17. Activities occur in mainstream social settings.
The Fellowship requires an Area Coordinator to take responsibility for the recruitment of participants and volunteers, planning and running of activities and other duties as needed..

Carer Advocate - NSW Family and Carer Mental Health Program
Part Time 22.8 hrs (3 days) per week

Carer Assist is seeking a dynamic person to join a team of carer advocates providing education, information, advocacy and support to people who care for someone with a mental illness.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Knowledge of mental illness
- Experience in working with families and carers and/or people with a mental illness
- Knowledge of mental health services in the Area (or ability to acquire this knowledge)
- Excellent networking, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in working within the community development framework
- Proven problem solving skills
- Experience of Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to manage a demanding and diverse workload
- Driver’s licence and car
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Experience caring for someone with a mental illness or other disability
- Conflict resolution and advocacy skills
- Experience in the provision of training
- Experience working with CALD and/or ATSI communities
