SAW 2006
Schizophrenia Awareness Week 2006 was a great success - with the benefit of voluntary support of advertising and media professionals, we were able to reach thousands of people in NSW through television advertisements broadcast in NSW, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland, print advertising, 14000 Avant cards and over 2000 information kits, most leading to public displays.
The development of a new poster provided important information on the early symptoms of psychosis. These were distributed, along with other information, in our information kits to over 2000 sites in NSW including municipal libraries, government and non government schools, mental health services, neighbourhood centres and some doctor’s surgeries. The “Scratch and Sniff” Avant card had the same concept and artwork as the TV commercial and provided a coherent message about early warning signs and symptoms and was very well received. Nearly 14000 were picked up across the state from cafés and cinemas etc.
