SAW 2007

In 2007, innovative artwork designed by HSC student Tess Barnard was used to spearhead the SAW 2007 media campaign. The Avant Card and a poster were broadly distributed across over 2000 sites in NSW.  The layout and printing were generously donated by IMC and Prominent Press. Initial feedback from this media campaign indicates that it was very popular, especially amongst young people, the target of early intervention promotion.

The poster provided a message of peer support and the role of young people as carers. This message linked in with “Time We Started Talking”, a guide created by our Fellowship that supports young people in the planning and running of their own mental health information forums on issues concerning young people in their community. Current pilot forums both metropolitan and rural NSW are looking at educating young people on the services available in their communities and supporting their peers into accessing services sooner. Time We Started Talking is a project in partnership with NSW Department of Health and with considerable probono graphic and media work from IMC.
