What is Respite?
Respite is providing a break, relief or time away for the carer and the person with mental illness from their everyday routine and stressors. Respite Services aim to provide relief for carers of people with mental illness, by engaging either the carer or the person with mental illness in recreational or educational activities, or by providing the carer with a retreat style respite break.
What is Respite Services?
Respite Services is a service provided by the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW Inc. that aims to support families and friends of people with mental illness throughout NSW. Respite can be in a variety of forms and we aim to suit the needs of the carer, person with mental illness and the family so please contact us to discuss your particular needs.
Respite Services provides innovative and flexible respite options to meet the needs of families and friends of those with mental illness. Respite Services offers a variety of recreational and educational activities designed to develop skills and promote a supportive environment for both the carer and person with mental illness.
Respite Services staff operate in four areas and across the state. These staff have a variety of skills, training and experience in the mental health sector. Respite Services staff aim to meet the individual needs of the carer, the person with mental illness, their families and friends.
Respite Services offers respite options at numerous sites across the state in the following HACC regions: Illawarra, Inner West, Riverina Murray and Orana Far West - Sanctuary Respite Centre and Gundair Rural Homestead Respite Centre.
