People living with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, anxiety or depression often find accessing a psychologist financially prohibitive. Sunflower Health Services is a service of the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW and offers access to bulk-billed psychologist services for eligible people on a low income living with or caring for someone living with a mental illness.
Whilst Sunflower Health Services psychologists are qualified to assist with any mental illness, we take pride in being a psychosis specialist with a particular understanding of the complex needs that can arise from living with a severe or persistent mental illness.
Symptoms of psychosis and other mental illnesses can be very distressing to individuals experiencing them. These symptoms can also impact upon carers and families. Sunflower Health Services can assist with the following:
- Managing symptoms of psychosis
- Early intervention
- Relapse prevention
In addition to this, Sunflower Health Services also offers exercise physiology and dietitian services to members of the community and can assist with the prevention and management of long term conditions including:
- Metabolic disorders (e.g. insulin resistance, Diabetes)
- Cardiac conditions and associated risk factors (e.g. high blood pressure, high cholesterol)
- Musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis and injuries
