About the Research Trust Fund
The Research Trust Fund was established in 1989, by Schizophrenia Fellowship, to develop a secure fund committed to enabling research into mental illness. The Trust Fund is run by Trustees, who take professional advice on financial investments and also seek external technical advice when assessing grant applications. The Trustees are all volunteers and the advice is provided on a pro-bono basis.
The first batch of grants was made in 1993, and grants continue to be made every year or second year. The Trustees call for submissions on an annual or biennial basis. The call for applications is posted on the Fellowship’s website and sent out to universities and researchers.
Any kind of research into mental illness qualifies for consideration for funding, provided it is conducted in NSW and satisfies criteria set out by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
The Fellowship's Research Trust Fund is registered with the Australian Taxation Office as a charity (Registered Charity No. CC26807) for which donations are tax deductible.
