Day to Day Living Programs (D2DL)
Personal Helpers & Mentors Programs

February 2008 witnessed the opening of our new day 2 day living centre at Harris Park. On the 14th, our open day was held, and it was exciting to see lots of new faces!

Thanks to their creativity, the new centre was christened “Frangipani House.” This name was chosen due to the distinctive frangipani trees located in both our front and back gardens, which help to make locating us a breeze! Frangipani House is a safe, supportive and friendly environment for people in the community who have suffered from mental illness. Visitors can engage in a range of social , educational and recreational activities of their choice. At Frangipani House, we provide an atmosphere which is both welcoming and encouraging to new members.

We have created an activity schedule that we hope suits your taste and needs. We hope to see you all soon and welcome all of your creative ideas.

Personal Helpers and Mentors Program
Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Nowra/Ulladulla

The Personal Helpers and Mentors Program is one of the key initiatives of the Australian Government’s mental health reform package announced in the 2006 Federal Budget, and is also part of the Australian Government’s contribution to the COAG.

Program eligibility

The Personal Helpers and Mentors Program will assist people aged 16 years and over whose ability to manage their daily activities and to live independently in the community is severely
impacted as a result of a severe mental illness. A person does not need to have a formalised clinical diagnosis of a severe mental illness to initially access the program. Participants will be offered a clinician as part of the program and will be helped to connect to appropriate medical and health supports for assessment and treatment.

The role of a Personal Helper and Mentor

Personal Helpers and Mentors will support program participants in their recovery journey, building long-term relationships and providing holistic support. They will ensure that services
accessed by program participants are coordinated, integrated and complementary to other services in the community.
